Fun Dog Show 2026
Bolton Percy Fun Dog Show, Saturday 27 June 2026
The Dog Show was once again well supported across the range of classes with some travelling from surrounding villages to take part. Ages of dogs entered ranged from just 6 months to 14.5yrs.
Congratulations go to Rex the Golden Retriever puppy, accompanied by Caroline Starkey for winning Cutest Puppy and then becoming our ‘Supreme Champion’ for 2026.

The Dog Show was organised and compered by Andrew Schofield, aided by Alan Swain and the Judge was Crufts Veteran Celia Swain. Alan took the photographs.
Thanks to Andrew, Celia and Alan for all their efforts in making this a successful and enjoyable event.
The Judge’s Comments (guest Judge Celia Swain) are as follows:
Thank you for inviting me to judge the BP Village Fete Dog Show again and a huge thank you to everyone who entered. Despite the hot weather we managed to find some shade and a light breeze made conditions acceptable. I would like to say how impeccably behaved all the entrants were on such a busy afternoon and what a lovely range of pet pooches I had to consider.
The Results:
Cutest Puppy and Supreme Champion
Rex, 11 months old Golden Retriever
Only two puppies entered this year and both were absolutely adorable – it was a very close decision to make as to which was the cutest.
Handled by Caroline, Rex behaved beautifully for one so young. He is a very handsome dog, has a rich dark golden coat and a lovely friendly temperament. Rex is clearly very playful and sociable. He certainly wasn’t fazed by the busy environment. Congratulations Caroline and Rex.

Golden Oldie
Lottie, 7yrs old Sprocker
Such a difficult class from which to pick a winner with so many lovely oldies entered. Lottie, a devoted member of the Stewart family from Appleton Roebuck and handled with confidence, stood out for me. She has a very pretty face and expression, a calm but inquisitive nature and clearly has a very special bond with her owner. Well done girls!

Waggiest Tail
Otis, 4yr old Beagle
The largest class – all gorgeous dogs and it was lovely to see so many wonderfully enthusiastic non-stop wags. All so well behaved. It was not an easy job to judge this class and a very close-run decision. Otis exudes confidence and certainly makes his presence known as is very typical of his breed. Well done Otis and Maryam from Bolton Percy!

Poshest Pedigree
Bundy, 14yrs old Brittany Spaniel
Only two entered this class and it was another very close call.
It is hard to believe that this French failed gun dog (who doesn’t like loud bangs) is 14yrs old. Not a grey hair in sight and clearly still very active and enjoying life. A super sweet natured dog and a loyal family pet. Well done Bundy!

Must Have Mixed Breed
Teddie, 3yrs old Springer x Poodle
Visiting from Poppleton, Mrs Johnson and Teddie were the most devoted pair. Teddie is a good example of ‘best of both’ taking loyalty and intelligence from his mixed parentage to produce the optimum ‘best friend’. Congratulations to you both.
